Explanation

This instrumental piece has undergone a variety of incarnations over the years. It began, initially, as an acoustic guitar piece, inspired by Edgar Allen Poe’s "Eldorado" poem. The first recording was done as a jazz waltz, where Josh tried to capture the flavor of New Orleans street musicians.

Eventually, in morphed into this orchestral arrangement, where traditional, and in some cases ethnic, instruments play in counterpoint to a modern rock guitar. The idea for that sort of contrast was inspired by the blend of fantasy and science-fiction Josh is a fan of in Masters of the Universe. He wanted to capture that sort of feeling musically.
